My Testimony - Never Give Up!

Writer: K. LemlerK. Lemler

I wanted to share something that’s been on my heart this morning—especially since the topic of viruses is such a big concern in the world right now. This is a piece of my story, and I pray it brings hope to someone who might need it today.

In 1992, I began experiencing strange, debilitating symptoms on top of my diagnosis of Grave’s Disease (hyperthyroidism). I saw countless doctors—neurologists, endocrinologists, ER specialists, alternative care practitioners—but no one could figure out what was wrong. At the same time, I was pregnant and weary from the unknowns and overwhelming symptoms. Finally, a wise doctor decided to run a specific blood test. I’ll never forget sitting on the edge of the exam table, nervously waiting for the results. He walked in and said, “I have good news and bad news. The good news is, we found out what’s wrong: you have Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV). The bad news is, no one can help you. There’s no hope.” And just like that, he walked out. At least I had an answer, but I was left to figure out the rest on my own.

For the next 10 years, I battled waves of crushing fatigue, flu-like symptoms, and moments of desperation. Sometimes, I was curled up on the floor, clinging to sermons and prayers just to get through the day. I sought help from a wonderful alternative MD and a nutritional chiropractor who introduced me to treatments like high-dose Vitamin C IVs. Over time, I also discovered I had cytomegalovirus (CMV) and faced heart issues like Mitral Valve Prolapse. But through it all, I clung to God. Slowly, healing came—partially through natural treatments and partially through His supernatural power.

However, the journey wasn’t just physical. I also faced rejection, gossip, and hurtful comments from people, including churches I had poured into. One pastor even told me, “Well, Kim, you have to die sometime!” It was heartbreaking, but I learned that while people may fail us, God never will. He is faithful, loving, and always present in our darkest moments. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18).

I had to let go of bitterness and choose forgiveness, even when it was hard. The pain of sickness, combined with the pain caused by others, left deep scars. But once I released it to God, healing came—not just in my body but in my soul. Trauma—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—has to be released. God’s healing touches every layer of our being, but we must partner with Him and obey His leading.

If you’re in need of healing today, know this: God sees you, He hears you, and He is with you. He will guide you through every step. One scripture God spoke to me during my journey is Proverbs 4:20-23: “My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

God bless you on your healing journey. Don’t give up. Peel back the layers, let Him work, and trust that He knows how to heal you completely. You are never alone.
