Ministry Vs. Psychology This ministry focuses on finding the root causes of why you are feeling the way you are. Just as a doctor of the body would take a look at your symptoms and try to determine what is causing them, so would a minister of the gospel, treating the whole being and looking for the roots, exposing them to the light of the Word of God.
Every problem that we have today, in this life lies under the umbrella of Adam’s fall. Because the original sin was a spiritual issue, the only way to fix what is broken in our lives is through spiritual means. Now, this doesn’t mean turning to false Gods or “higher powers” in order to do that. The Bible is abundantly clear that the only Healer who can help you find lasting peace and happiness is Jesus Christ. As a minister of His gospel, my goal is to help you find the roots that are crowding out your peace and happiness and help you to lay the axe to those roots.
Why does this ministry not look to psychology for help? One obvious reason is that the world around us is a mess and we don’t often see lasting results from turning to psychology. Some of the advice you get may be fine and even helpful at times, but when I see a psychologist attempt to treat a patient without reference to his spirit or to God, then I know that there will be no lasting results. The Bible tells us to not seek the counsel of the ungodly, and many in the counseling arena are not believers. You may find a believing psychologist out there amongst the rest, but I question why he or she, as a believer, would attempt to use the world’s methods to obtain God’s results.
Psychology is defined as:
In Jungian Psychology and modern day psychology it is taught that there is an “idealistic compartment" of the soul called the “conscious” and the "collective unconscious". In the teachings of Jungian psychology, within the collective unconscious you will find the archetypes and dark shadows. Jungian identifies these dark shadows as the archetypes of our historic ancestry bringing with them the darkness and the evil that we need to come in contact with and identify with so that we can cohabit with the evilof our ancestral line generationally. This is classic Jungian psychotherapy. (From A More Excellent Way by Pastor Wright) The Bible does not teach these concepts anywhere and I find it abhorrent to think or believe that we are expected to “cohabit” with evil. This is quite the opposite of what the Word teaches. The archetypes and dark shadows that Jungian psychology teaches are actually evil spirits, principalities, powers, and the rulers of the darkness of this world. When they come down the line generationally, this is called a "generational curse" and we can take authority against these curses, if we are in Christ.
The Bible tells us that we need to resist these powers and that, through Jesus Christ, we can use our authority in Him to overcome these spirits that oppress us. Jesus came to DESTROY the works of the devil ...not to set up house with him!!
We are never told to cohabit with them. Is it not any wonder that psychotherapy is not producing results and often people are worse off than they were before? Dealing with the dark spiritual world is like dealing with a loaded gun…and the only way to deal with this realm effectively is to walk in the light of the Word of God, in the power of Jesus Christ. Here is some background information on Carl Jung, of Jungian Psychology.
I don't know about you, but I surely don't want to follow a man and his teachings who is possessed through channeling by demonic spirits!!! In today's world, people from all walks of life go running to their shrinks or psychologists, sometimes for years and years, and nowhere in the Word are we told to do that. The Word says that if we have need, we are turn to the elders of the church. Those elders are the apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers…the five-fold ministry. Herein lies your answer…with people who are connected to God in the person of Jesus Christ, and through Jesus Christ himself as your personal counselor. There is no other lasting means of help…
What about medical doctors…is there a place for them in our lives? Having said that, I need to go on to say that in the beginning, God did not intend for us to use the world of medicine and doctors. I believe that He STILL expects us to rely on Him first for all healing. The Word is clear on this. But God understands that our level of faith is not to His standards to receive all that He has for us. Therefore He allows us to be helped with other methods. He loves us so much that He will do whatever He can to help us. The ways of man are not perfect and we must understand this when we get treatment from other sources than God. We must come to God first, in faith.
For so many of the medical and emotional problems people have today, their answer does not lie in prescribed medication which has a myriad of side effects (have you seen the commercials on TV!?), but their answers lie in the Lord. He created you…He knows how to fix you. Every person’s path of healing may be different since we all have different bodies and come from different backgrounds and situations in life. The path, however, will ALWAYS revolve around the truth of the Word, in whatever way that needs to be applied to you. Let me give you an example: A woman goes to the doctor because she is suffering from arthritis in her hands. It is very painful and the doctor sends her to a rheumatologist, who prescribes a medication to take away the pain and reduce the swelling. Did the rheumatologist cure this woman of arthritis? No, he managed the symptoms. He did not look for a root cause of the arthritis because he wasn’t trained on how to find spiritual roots. That same woman goes to her pastor who tells her that she needs to forgive someone because she is harboring bitterness in her heart. When she realizes that the bitter pill that she hoped the other person would swallow in hopes it would kill them, was being digested by herself instead, she repents to God, forgives the other person for the hurt, releases them to the Lord for His healing in their lives and blesses them. As a result, the Lord then can forgive HER for her trespasses, and now the healing of her arthritis takes place. No pills required. This same scenario happens over and over and over again in ministries all around the world. It has happened in mine. Here is another situation. A woman goes to her doctor and is all bent over. She is in pain and is crippled in her back. He suggests some surgery to straighten her spine, which may or may not help, and prescribes painkillers to help curb her pain in the meantime. The doctor has no inclination to look at a possible spiritual cause. For the rest of her life, she will remain a captive in her own body. Now, if she goes to her pastor or other minister who understands deliverance, then she has a chance to get to the root of her problem. In the Bible, there was a woman who was bowed over for 18 years. She came to the synagogue and met Jesus there. Right away, He knew the source of her problem. She had a spirit of infirmity and he cast it OUT of her and she was able to straighten her body once again. Something happened 18 years previously to let that spirit come in and cause her deformity. In one fell swoop. Jesus came against that spirit with His authority and it had no choice but to leave that woman. In the modern day healing/deliverance ministry, this type of healing happens literally on a daily basis.
Are all arthritis and spinal problems spiritually rooted? I can't say 100% for certainty of the cause in each individual, but I can say for certain that the majority most likely are. I can also say for certain that God's power to heal people from these afflictions is present today...without the help of doctors. We need to study His Word to seek out this truth. Sickness, disease and all forms of lack and oppression are all a part of the curse as listed in Deuteronomy. God told us to Choose this day what you shall have, blessings or curses, life or death. (Deut. 30:19-20) He told us to CHOOSE LIFE…and it is certainly our choices in life that will affect our ability to be overcomers. We need to make the right choices concerning who we want to minister to us. Do we want the “world” and its vain philosophies, governed by the “god of this world”(satan) to teach us and minister to our needs? Or do you want instruction from men and women of God, who understand His Word and how to receive from Him...those believers who take the Great Commission seriously and see signs and wonders following?
