The question I want to ask you today is, "Can We Lose Our Healing?"
I
have heard some people say that we cannot "lose" our healing because
what God has given He will not take away. Part of this statement is
true. God will not take away what He has already given. And God gave us
healing on the cross 2000 years ago. "It Is Finished!"
But we can
lose our healing....not because God revokes it, but because satan
brings it back and we do not resist... Getting healed is the easy part.
It's keeping healing that is the challenge and requires our diligence...
When
we get relief of symptoms of sickness, it's easy to sit back and say,
"Phew! Thank God that's over!" And then we go about our normal
business and presume all is well...
Then a few days go by,
maybe a few weeks, or even months... and sometimes even a few years...
and we start to get a twinge of those old symptoms. We ignore them and
say to ourselves, "I have already been healed of that..." And so we
continue to go about our business as the symptoms get stronger and
stronger and until one day they have overtaken us.
What did we do wrong in this case? We didn't resist satan the first time he tried to put that garbage back on us again. We assumed that since God healed us of it the first time, that it would never return again. And that was our mistake....
Whenever
symptoms return or even when new symptoms start to appear, we need to
hit that thing with the full weight of our covenant!! It's easier to to
get rid of a few twigs than it is to dig out a tree trunk....so we
cannot allow these things to get rooted in us deeply before we take
action!
I have a friend who had some problems with his lip
getting swollen when he would eat certain foods. It would happen out of
the blue and on a fairly consistent basis. He was healed of that
ailment, but a few years later, the symptoms started to return. So
whenever his lip would start to swell , he would come against the
attack with the Word of God. If he was sitting in a restaurant, he
would excuse himself and go to the restroom or his car, speak the Word
to his body and to satan, and then he would return to his seat. He said
he had to resist these attacks on over 25 different occasions!
Finally, satan got the message and took his lies and fled...
How do we resist when the attacks come???
We need to rise up in faith and say, "Satan,
oh no you don't! You are not going to put that garbage back on me and
so I command these attacks to stop right here and now, in the name of
Jesus!! It is written that I am healed!"
Don't back down!
Don't shrink back! Stand up for your covenant rights! Receive what the
Lord has already given you! You may have to do this a hundred times
before satan gets the message but that's okay. You still have the upper
hand and always will because you are a child of God and Jesus stripped
Satan of any of his power when he went into hell and took those keys
from him...
Now....you can choose to allow satan to usurp your authority and put that junk back on you. You choose
to do this by not walking in your authority! God didn't leave us
powerless here on this earth. He gave us the tools to overcome satan
and so it is up to us to use them...
This is not an "easy" walk
in this life. Sometimes it is harder on our flesh to fight than it is
to throw our hands up and say, "I give up". It takes courage and
determination to battle the wiles of the devil.
So rise up today in the power and authority that you have been given by God through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior! Don't lose your healing!
"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." - James 4:7
